Cookie Policy
Last updated: 29 October 2026
This page explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on VasteShop, what each one does, and how you can control them. We keep the list short and only use what the shop actually needs to work.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website asks your browser to store. We also use local storage, which works the same way but holds larger values and is never sent to us automatically.
We classify every cookie we set as strictly necessary, functional, or analytics. Analytics cookies are only set if you agree to them.
2. Strictly necessary cookies
These keep the shop working and cannot be switched off. They do not track you across other websites.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Keeps you signed in and protects your account from cross-site request forgery. It is signed and HTTP-only, so scripts cannot read it. | Until you sign out |
| Website tracker cookie | Stores your analytics session — see section 4. Only set once you accept analytics. | 7 days |
| Language cookie | Remembers the language you chose with the language switcher. Set by the translation service, not by us. | Until it expires |
3. Functional storage
We keep a few things in your browser's local storage so the shop behaves the way you left it. None of this identifies you, and none of it is shared with anyone.
- Basket contents — the items, quantities and delivery choice you put in your cart, so they are still there when you come back.
- Display preferences — the currency and appearance settings you chose.
- Recent searches — the last few terms you typed into the search bar, used to make search suggestions useful.
- Recently viewed — the last few product pages you opened, used to show you what you have been looking at.
- Cookie choice — remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics so we do not ask you on every visit.
4. Analytics
If you accept analytics, we record how the shop is used so we can see which pages work and where shoppers get stuck. The data is collected by our own server — we do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel or any other third-party advertising tracker.
What we record: the pages you visit and how long you stay on them, what you click, the session start time and duration, and technical details such as your browser, operating system, device type and an approximate location derived from your IP address (country and city level).
What we do not record: your full card details, the contents of your basket, or anything about pages you visited after declining.
The data is used in aggregate to improve the shop. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
5. Advertising and marketing cookies
We do not use advertising cookies, affiliate trackers, or pixels from social networks. We do not build a profile of you across other websites for marketing purposes.
6. Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information with the service providers that help us run the shop — for example our payment provider, our email provider and our delivery partners — but only the information each of them needs to do its job. The delivery partner receives your name, address and contact number so the parcel reaches you.
We will disclose information where the law requires it, for example in response to a valid request from a law enforcement or regulatory authority.
7. Changing your consent
You can accept or decline analytics cookies from the consent banner that appears the first time you visit. Your choice is remembered on this device.
You can change it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this website and reloading the page — the banner will appear again. Blocking or deleting cookies through your browser settings also works, and most of the shop will still function.
If you decline, no analytics data is collected and the shop works exactly as before.
8. Third-party content
Pages may embed content from other providers — for example product videos or a translation service — and those providers set their own cookies under their own policies. We cannot control them, and you can block them in your browser settings.
